How we write
We base our guides on the federal laws that govern credit reporting and debt collection, mainly the Fair Credit Reporting Act and the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, and on guidance from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Each guide shows the date it was last updated.
How we make money
WalletMD is free to use. Some care plans and pages link to Credit Saint, Credit Squad and Bolster, which are owned by the same company as WalletMD, Saint Services, LLC. If you sign up with one of them, our company benefits. We say so next to every one of those links.
That doesn't change the order of things: every plan starts with what you can do yourself for free, and you never have to hire anyone to dispute an error on your credit report.
What we're not
The "MD" is about giving your finances a check-up. We aren't doctors, lawyers, lenders or financial advisers, and our guides are general information, not legal or financial advice. Laws vary by state. If you're being sued, talk to a lawyer or your local legal aid office.
